Luke's Log from the touchline
- 29/10/2008
It was frustrating having to watch the match from the sidelines. We were expecting a good game with APM. Both teams had been doing really well but we had eight or nine players not available for selection. In spite of that we still felt we had a good enough squad to match them.
The game started well and in a good spirit considering what happened last season. APM dominated the first twenty five minutes or so coming down the slope and managed to get between Tony and Danny Black to get a strike through Danny's legs.
After that we seemed to get into the game a bit more and buck up our ideas. We got on top for the rest of the half. We made two great chances but didn't take them; just one of those things. Really you have to say two great saves by their 'keeper.
In the second half we expected to see Dave Read start up front. He hadn't had loads to do at the back in the first half and we were missing a bit of height up front. APM had been dominating at the back. But anyway the change didn't happen for about twenty minutes. After that we starting winning the ball more all over the park.
APM didn't look as if they were trying for another goal. All of their men were getting behind the ball. But we got a throw and big lump Ready comes up and gets the ball to Dan who sticks out a leg to score. Great for us. Dave then pulled Ben off just before the ref was about to, I think.
Troy played really well. 1-1 was a fair result in my eyes.
I can't wait to get playing again. I hate watching. Hoping that we can soon get back to have a full selection from the squad.
