City have confirmed Billy Phillips as their first Community Volunteer. Billy, originally from Lancing, West Sussex, is now a Primary Education student at Canterbury Christ Church University.
Billy joins us to support our community programme and has already attended coaching sessions at Orchard School as well as the Learning Disability Team coaching evening. Along with club coaches Steve North and Jim Hooper, Billy attended the recent FA Level One course which he passed with flying colours.
The club's Community Volunteer Programme is aimed at supporting the delivery of our Community Development Programme and is open to anyone who has a passion for football and an understanding of the role the game can play in enhancing quality of life.
As Billy himself has said: "I personally want to get involved with coaching as I have a passion for football and want to be able to work with youngsters in the community so that they can also enjoy the game. I have recently taken my FA Level One coaching certificate, which I feel will help me in my role at the club.
I have started doing a bit of work with the Orchards School project, in which the club offer football sessions for children who have behavioural difficulties. Even though I have only just started, I can see the enthusiasm that the children get from this experience and look forward to doing a lot more work on this and other projects".
To express interest in joining the programme, please contact the club via the website.
