Under 15s Bow Out (February 22, 2008)

Canterbury City  1   VCD Athletic  2

Mat Keyte's Under15s put up a stirring performance in this Kent County Cup quarter final but lost out to a last minute sucker punch that sees VCD progress into the last four.

In front of a small but appreciative crowd which included KCFA vice-chairman Colin Boswell, City started nervously with VCD enjoying early pressure although chances remained few and far between. As the half continued however, City's confidence grew and and the game became increasingly a tense but equal affair.

City started the second half well and after a series of good chances went begging, deservedly took the lead through the impressive Scott Heard who once again led from the front. Sadly the home side could not protect the lead as VCD soon equalised.

The final quarter of the game was once again a nervy affair with chances created at both ends and in the final minute of the game VCD scored the winning goal following a swift move down the right flank.

Although bowing out of the competition it is clear that the team are continuing to develop well and look an exciting and attractive proposition for the future.
