Ladies March On (March 02, 2008)

London Corinthians 0   Canterbury City 14

Lorna's Ladies progressed into their second cup semi-final following their comfortable Chairman's Cup win over London Corinthians.

With an eye fixed firmly on the future, Lorna included  two 16 year olds in her squad with both Danielle Haughie and Carmela Emekwue making impressive contributions.

Recent signing Natalie Fairbrace continued to impress with bursting runs down the right flank and is clearly becoming a popular member of the team.

Once again the bulk of City's goals came from Avril Spary (5) and Debbie Burgess (4) whilst Jenny Collins and Hannah Smith contributed a pair apiece and Summer Lovegrove recorded her first goal for the club.

City's margin of victory could well have been greater but for some profligacy in front of goal and a number of excellent saves made by the home keeper.

City manager, Lorna Shilling was more than satisfied with the performance, 'I was delighted at how well the recent signings are fitting into the team. Danielle, Summer and Natalie have all impressed and we are getting a depth of quality in the squad that is really encouraging'.

City will travel to Surrey to play Premier Division leaders Wandgas in the Chairman's Cup semi-final on Sunday 6th April
