A dozen for the Ladies (March 09, 2008) City Ladies 12 Ramsgate Ladies 0
City's Ladies gained little from another high scoring win, apart from points and another boost for confidence. Ramsgate did as much as they could to keep the score beneath even more nonsensical proportions but hardly had a shot at goal. Matches such as this add nothing to the optimism of the defeated side and only serve as a fitness workout for City.
The fact was that even without top scorer Debbie Burgess, City's only frustration was that they should have put away a dozen or more further chances that came their wa
y. Once in a comfortable lead they were understandably a little less than dynamic in their approach. Some of their goals were scrambled in but a few were outstanding, not least a fierce long drive from Natalie Bowen. Avril Spary was always buzzing around the Ramsgate penalty area and scored a deserved hat-trick.New signing Natalie Farbrace is clearly a high quality player, here scoring two goals, and Carmela Emekwue showed
some neat touches as well as scoring the opening goal after only eight minutes. A half-time lead of 5-0 put City beyond reach of a gutsy Ramsgate for whom Amy Robinson, particularly, worked relentlessy. Goalkeeper Natasha Hart saved the visitors from an even heavier drubbing.
City: Hardy; Smith, Collins, Fusco, Bowen, Farbrace, Blackmore, Hughes, Spary, Emekwue (Berry), Smith.
