Disappointment for U-16s (April 20, 2008)

City Under-16s title ambitions were dealt a major blow with a 4-2 defeat at home to Sheppey today.

Sheppey started the game on the front foot and went into a two goal lead early on. Although Adam Woollcott pulled a goal back just before half-time to make the score 2-1 Sheppey scored an early second half goal to make City's task too difficult.

Glen Johnson did manage to pull another goal back but Sheppey were not to be denied.

Steve Woollcott said: "We still have a chance to win the league and a win against Dover in our final game of the season will clinch it. The lads will be disappointed with the result today but they are a great bunch and I know that they will bounce back and show some fighting qualities and good football against Dover to give themselves every chance of back to back Kent League titles".

City squad:Treacher; Searle, Gregory, Langiano, Gess, Axford, Richardson, Norton, Woollcott, Johnson, Walsh, Scudder, Biggs.
