Under-18s let points slip (April 27, 2008)

Ramsgate 2   City Under-18s 2

City's Under-18s dropped points in their quest for the league title after starting poorly. They fell behind to a second minute goal when the defence was caught square and a quick ball across the area left a simple tap in.

City equalised on 20 minutes, Aaron Campbell slipping the ball home after being released through the centre. They then dominated but squandered several one on one chances to make the game safe at an early stage.

The second half was much the same, with City creating the clearer openings but wasting chances before taking the lead again on 60 minutes through Campbell who worked his way past three defenders before slotting past the Ramsgate keeper. Seemingly coasting, City failed to get the third killer goal and paid the price for missed chances after a poor call and missed headed clearance by Will Jonhstone saw the Ramsgate striker race clear. Although forced wide by Kye Westgarth, he was allowed to get a low cross across goal which was tucked away from close range.

With the game open, City still had chances to win the game but saw  Maxted  miss a relatively easy opening but he was also denied with a well placed header by a fine save by the keeper.

City squad: Magrino; Westgarth ,Johnstone, Small, Brockman ,Smissom McGeehan ,Turner J, Turner M, Maxted, Campbell, Mannings ,Paton, Biggs.
